I was at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre last night for Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark tour with Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D. and Rihanna. This was Kanye waking up from his crash landing with his spaceship Jane. “Wake up, Mr. West. Mr. West!”

There was this whole theme and narrative to the show where Kanye is traveling through space, searching for new and creative things, crash lands on an unknown planet, and has to find strength to get himself back on track. Reminds me of a way cooler version of the old Disney attraction with Michael Jackson, “Captain EO,” and I thought “Captain EO” was awesome.

This is the video monitor at the Nokia Theatre. You can’t see it, but Kanye was dripping with sweat the whole time. It was intense. He went for more than an hour without taking a break! When we did sit down to chug some water from a canteen, they played Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”

This shot was taken toward the end of the show, where the “Brightest Star” Kanye West summons the strength to make it back home.

A nice gift from Kanye handed out at the end of the concert, this is a book he co-wrote and dedicated to his mother with his own personal proverbs.
