Morcheeba Go To Hollywood, Sell Out
April 13, 2008 - Music Box @ Fonda, Hollywood, CA
Heralded for their success in fusing a diverse genre of music with electronic overtones, Morcheeba have proven time and again that their eclectic style can not be placed into the proverbial box.
Playing for a sold-out crowd at the Music Box @ Fonda in Hollywood last Sunday was no exception either, as the group put on a show that nearly blew the lid off of the joint. The band performed several songs from its long list of classics and some off of their latest album, Dive Deep, released in February.
Although I didn’t have a chance to listen to the album prior to the concert, judging by the feedback from the crowd there’s no doubt that Morcheeba fans will be enjoying this for quite some time.
One could not help but stare in amazement as the group’s guitar virtuoso Ross Godfrey had his way with his guitar like an erotic fantasy. His brilliant performance was complimented by the band’s talented keyboardist, who later picked up a sax and floored the crowd with a mean solo. As one of the founding members of the group — est. 1995, London, England — Godfrey has played a major role in the band’s success, which, one would presume has garnered the band a substantial amount of creative freedom.
