Ticket Stubs: Coheed & Cambria, Sia, Liars, De Novo Dahl
- “Not a lot of people dressed up for the show, mainly because it was a Linkin Park show and Coheed & Cambria were just opening for them, so you had a lot of boring kids there really. Linkin Park are mostly rap-rock, compared to Chiodos and Coheed, who opened and who are harder. And the mosh pit … well, it was more like a bunch of people just standing there. Kinda disappointing. And with me being pregnant, I didn’t know what to do in my chair.” (The Ledbetters)
- “The moment Sia picks up that mic, she amazes with a powerful voice that weaves in and out of the delicate and the harsh. She’s completely unique and intriguing. What made the concert was how she carried it. This wasn’t just a show; it was an interaction with the crowd. The Australian dedicated song after song to randoms in the audience — including an ‘Eric the truck driver who had a booboo when I met him at the gas station this morning.’ ” (Cassette45)
- “Liars had a lot to live up to after No Age’s set but one could tell early on that Angus Andrew (vocals/bass) was feeling the Los Angeles crowd and wanted to give them something special for a tour-ending show. … The screams from the crowd for Angus not to hurt himself went on deaf ears as Angus convulsed and gestured wildly across the stage. … [He was] out of control, falling all over the stage and knocking over his mic stand and his stool. I was worrying that Angus would throw out his back again the way he was working the stage.” (Amateur Chemist)
- “What a fantastic send-off to California. I swear every time I see De Novo Dahl, they just get better and better. They’ve become a great mix of garage pop and a budget Flaming Lips (someone needs to buy them confetti cannons). We got a set pretty close to their new album with a few old ones in there. The live staple ‘The Funk’ was an always-welcome hit, as was their older song ‘Waiting for My Friends.’ ” (You Ain’t No Picasso)
