Ticket Stubs: Tony! Toni! Toné!, Iron Maiden, Liam Finn, Sin 34
- “I got a dose of 1988 into system last Saturday as I went to the Tony! Toni! Toné!, Bell Biv DeVoe and Keith Sweat concert in Nashville. It was awesome! … I didn’t realize these guys had 3,500 fans that still existed, but we jammed to ‘Do Me,’ ‘Feels Good,’ ‘Make You Sweat’ and countless other ballads that made me wish a woman was with me.” (YeeeeHaaaaawww)
- “The lights went dark and we were screaming our throats out. Out the blue we started seeing Iron Maiden’s Ed Force on the screen. The welcoming of the gods by the devotees at an airport was immediately followed by B55s flying high with Churchill motivating the English to defend their island. Within no time the riffs had started and we knew ‘Aces High’ was being bestowed upon us by the gods themselves.” (A Matter of Life and Death)
- “Liam Finn (son of Neil) began his set to a small audience (an un-crowded house?) last night at Sound Fix in Brooklyn (sans Eddie Vedder). … ‘Organized chaos’ can be used to describe some of Liam Finn’s songs, where Ben Gibbard-esque vocals are met with sharp cadences and brief guitar riffs. Between songs the audience was amused with Finn’s first taste of Brooklyn Lager and his aspirations to move to New York in three or maybe five years’ time.” (Brooklyn Vegan)
- “Sin 34’s Mike Glass was in serious guitar god form, riffing like it took absolutely no energy at all. His fingers flew across the frets while he looked slightly bored by how easy it was. Phil Newman glared angrily into space throughout most of the show. I’m pretty sure without monitors he was keeping time by intently watching Dave Markey for cues, or maybe that was his angry Henry hardcore persona. Over on drums, Markey thrashed away like a madman.” (LAist)
