Gwen Stefani Encore Includes Surprise No Doubt Reunion
June 23, 2007 - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Irvine, CA
This weekend had to have been the best in a long time for me! I got to see Gwen Stefani in concert Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine. To sum her and her show up in one word is simply AMAZING! She is the ultimate entertainer.
The way you feel when you are watching her is just incredible. In a way you are escaping your real world and visiting a much more exciting place. She takes you away and you do not come back until the end of the show. =] She gets the crowd going and it is so intoxicating! Every single person in the place is doing exactly what she asks of them. She definitely has that power over people.
She started off the show with her first single off of her second album, Sweet Escape. Right when that huge G came up on the screen, everyone went BANANAS! Get it? She went on to do songs from her first and second albums. It was all very exciting and you could not wait to see what was coming next! She had a few costume changes and interacted with the crowd quite a bit. Very cute and so down-to-earth of course. She was reading every single sign that fans had made for her. She referred to Orange County a lot! She wanted to know where all her “Orange County girls” were at! She must have said that 15 times!
To make the night even more amazing, at one point she ran up into the audience and landed right by my friends and I. She was right in front of me! I was so amazed I was just examining every part of her! She is absolutely gorgeous! You can see the way people are in awe of her. She just does something to you. She was talking to everyone and waving and saying hi and just interacting with everyone. She sang “Cool” and made everyone sing it with her. She just basically wanted to be in the mix with her fans!
The night was winding down and she started introducing her band and dancers and then exited. BUT we all knew she was gonna come out again! For the encore, duh! No one was ready for this, though. All of a sudden the boys from No Doubt come out for the encore! Everyone went crazy! There they were, NO DOUBT! This just made the night even more memorable for everyone. They played four songs and she made sure everyone knew she missed her boys! They started off with “Just a Girl” then played “Hella Good,” “Sunday Morning” (my fav) and “Spiderwebs.”
I will never, NEVER forget that night! At the end of “Spiderwebs” there’s a lyric that says, “It’s all your fault” and she pointed to the crowd and said, “AND IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!” He he. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute. So this was my experience and I am sure anyone else who went would have nothing but great things to say as well. Simply AMAZING! =]
